Travel Contract Tips: First Day Expectations

So it’s Day 1 of your contract is approaching… What do you need to know and what should you be expecting?

1. Don’t be nervous. Treat your first day like any other day. You are a solution to a problem and you are needed, so feel confident and comfortable.

2. Expect to meet lots of staff and patients including your immediate supervisor.

3. Be ready to learn the facility’s policies, processes and procedures.

4. Be ready for walking, as there is a big chance will tour the facility.

5. If you are in a high risk setting like corrections, expect extended training with many protocols and specific procedures.

6. Be sure to take notes. In a fast paced setting with lives on the line it’s important that you know the answers to the most important questions.

7. Last, check in with your recruiter if your recruiter doesn’t check in with you.
It’s important that you let your recruiter know how you feel about the facility, training and your first day overall. Be sure to point out any specifics and or potential concerns that are important to note and or resolve
