So… you’re talking to a great recruiter about a potential job opportunity. Things are going well until your recruiter says the one thing you were hoping they wouldn’t say… “In order to move forward we will also need you to complete skill and competency assessments… I’m emailing them to you now, will you have any concern completing them today?” … and you reply nervously “No… no… I shouldn’t have any concerns completing them today…” and you move forward hoping and praying for a positive outcome. If this sounds familiar don’t worry, here are four easy ways to ensure you pass recruiting assessments the first time.
1. Time. While the assessments are timed, take your time. Don’t rush. Remember, there is a job opportunity on the line.
2. Open book. While there is not a guide for each assessment, keep in mind, the assessment exam is open book. It is an excellent opportunity to get a quick review and refresher on tough topics.
3. Multiple attempts. If all else fails, always remember you usually have multiple attempts available. If you are unsure, be sure to ask your recruiter before starting the assessments.
4. Don’t worry. Stress causes you to perform poorly and clouds your memory. Remember take your time, it’s open book and you have multiple attempts, DON’T WORRY.
